Standing at 153m tall and 77m wide , the Zenfone 2 is a pretty huge device, though it doesn’t feel too overwhelming to the hand and it certainly won’t trouble the phablet-versed crowd (like you and me). The front has a sleek all-black look with the exception of the ASUS logo and earpiece at the top and the three navigation soft-touch keys just below the 5.5-inch display.
Turning the device on its back, you’ll be greeted by a sight that is probably all too familiar to some of you. The curved contour and the brushed metal look are reminiscent of the HTC One M8 and One M9. Not that it is a bad thing of course. In fact, this combination is still one of the best-looking ones we can find in a smartphone these days. Besides the camera lens and the dual LED flash, you can also find the volume rockers (that also work for taking selfies) on it, which takes some time getting used to if you come from the side buttons background.
That said, we are puzzled by the location of the power/lock button which is placed at the top center. Evidently, some finger gymnastics will be needed to reach it. Thankfully though, the need to get access to it is greatly reduced by the very intuitive double tap-to-wake-and-to-lock feature on the display.
All in all, the Zenfone 2 is a handsome head-turner that will have no problem making it to the nominees list for the best-looking phablet in the market.
