Monday, January 14, 2019

The Razer Phone didnít manage to get a proper launch in Malaysia but fret not all Razer fans in Malaysia as its sequel is definitely getting a much higher-profile release here this time around.

The Razer Phone 2 was officially launched on our shores earlier today and it marks yet another entry into the growing and exciting dedicated gaming smartphone market, which really took off last year with the likes of the Asus ROG Phone and Honor Play. The Razer Phone 2 though is the much-anticipated successor to the groundbreaking Razer Phone which surprised the tech world when it first debuted in late 2017.

The Razer Phone 2 rightfully preserved the identity and mainstay feature of the first Razer Phone, namely the boxy design, huge dual front-facing speakers and the ultra-smooth 120Hz display - with a few notable enhancements here and there. For one, Razer has made their iconic logo on the back of the new phone capable of illuminating in different colors, which no doubt adds more visual razzmatazz and that any Razer fan would love.†The Razor Chroma can even be customised to light up in different colors according to different apps' notifications. On top of that, The Razer Phone 2 is also currently the only phone capable of†delivering both HDR and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound for Netflix.

A glass back also replaces an aluminium-based ones, which not only lends to a sleeker-looking device but also gives it wireless charging ability. The dual rear camera lens have been shifted too to occupy a more central position. To top it all off, the display is not only 50% brighter now but also fortified with the much tougher Gorilla Glass 5 compared to its predecessorís Gorilla Glass 3. On a downer side for some people though, the headphone jack continues to be an absentee.†On the gaming front, Razer has added a vapor chamber cooling system which is a must-have component in any serious dedicated gaming phone.

Specs-wise, do expect significant bumps (20%-30%) in performance and gaming as the Razer Phone 2 runs on the current gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. It has also got IP67 dust-and-water resistant, something that the original Razer Phone lacks. Even though on paper the cameras do not receive significant upgrades, Razer has made little changes like adding in Optical Image Stabilization and Sony IMX sensors that would only mean better-looking pictures.

You will also find a Razer Theme Store preloaded inside the software which hosts free exclusive themes as well as wallpapers featuring top mobile games the likes of "Vainglory", "Arena of Valor", "Tekken" and soon "PUBG Mobile".

Hereís a complete look of all the key specs of the Razer Phone 2
