Google launches Stadia game streaming service

Tuesday, March 19, 2019

At the Game Developers Conference 2019, Google announced its Stadia cloud gaming service. The service leverages on its datacentre clusters across the globe, and promises to deliver the best possible gaming experience.

Google added that Stadia is not just for games but can also perform tasks such as allowing gamers to stream gameplay directly to the platform. As the games themselves can be access directly as a video, gamers can pinpoint specific parts of the game. Stadia does not require dedicated hardware and can be used directly through a Chrome browser. While Google did showcase the Stadia controller as well, gamers can use any USB alternative.

No launch date was provided for Stadia, although it is scheduled to be out sometime in 2019 for the US, Canada, the UK and Europe first.
